Denim Pioneers: Crafting a Brand Book Celebrating the 45 Years of a Japanese Brand’s Legacy

Commemorating the 45th anniversary of the internationally acclaimed apparel brand “45R”, a pioneer in incorporating Japanese Aizome (indigo dyeing) methods into denim production, we have created a brand book and participated in the design direction and overall design.
Book Design Showcasing Japan’s Beauty and Artistry: The Essence of 45R

The book features a modest and functional cardboard jacket, while inside, it is elegantly bound with exquisite 45R Aizome fabric, incorporating Japanese beauty in its design.

We printed the book using 1950s wooden block type. Holding the book in your hands, you can feel the warmth of this printing process. This serves as the key visual which expresses the world view and careful Japanese craftsmanship of 45R. The book design embraces the symbolic indigo color of 45R. 
Layout Design

The bold layout of the photographs, and the large, clean character design are unified to express the confidence and trustworthiness of the brand.
Printing Scenery

Each page of every chapter is printed employing wooden block type and letterpress printing techniques.
