We were hired by Capricciosa to develop a logo commemorating the Italian restaurant’s 40th anniversary, in addition to a new website, menu, and posters for the restaurant. We took this as an opportunity to suggest new possibilities for this staple restaurant in entering its next stage. The logo was made to reflect the history of the company -- how the founder Masaaki Honda studied cooking in Italy, started a restaurant in Japan when Italian food was not common, the restaurant’s celebrating its 40 years, and now anticipating the next 40 years. For the website, menu, and posters, we took on the role as the photo director and pursued a collaboration with an experienced food stylist and a fashion and architecture photographer. The end result was images of the dishes in warm, appetizing contexts, that work harmoniously with the designs to enhance the restaurant’s goals to provide a welcoming dining experience.
