Tokyo College of Music

TCM
Project:
With a new campus location on the way and a new aim to gain interest from international students, Japan’s oldest private music institute sought out to revamp its CI. &Form created a simple and clear logo that conveys the school’s 100-year tradition of open-minded instruction which embraces different genres, theories, and cultures. This logo and idea was incorporated into the college stationery and products that reflect musical vibration.
Working closely with the architecture, we made signs with movement to create a lively and harmonious learning environment. For example, we used three key colors and three color combinations yielded from transparent acrylic material to indicate rooms for the community groups (students, faculty, and visitors) at the music school; various uses (class, lesson, and practice) of the rooms were indicated by the unique placement of the signs. We also created a large logo for the exterior of the building, a map of the school, theater seat numbers, among others.
